For years, I did what many high-capacity women do.
I held everything together.
I pushed through stress.
I told myself I was fine.
That’s when I realized something important... I wasn’t broken. I was protective.
I had built personality strategies to stay safe. To stay needed. To stay in control.
The Enneagram helped me understand the pattern. Somatic work helped me regulate the response.
And that combination changed everything.
Most behavior is protection.
What looks like overreacting, overgiving, shutting down, or over-functioning often began as adaptation.
The problem isn’t that you learned those strategies. The problem is that they may still be running automatically.
